Introduction

This page details information on creating jamJAR policies.

Scoping

As we're leveraging the client side logic of Munki, scoping jamJAR policies can be a little different to normal Jamf Pro policies.

The policies Smart Group criteria does not need any Application Title, Application Version or any Extension Attributes.

Scripts

A jamJAR policy will need to include jamJAR's script with at least one of the parameters defined.

This script should be set to run After.

Gathering Inventory

Gathering Inventory, or recon, is not needed as jamJAR's postflight will run recon if/when an item is installed/uninstalled.

Restart Actions

This will be handled by Munki as needed, so again not needed in a jamJAR policy.

Self Service

jamJAR policies can be called via Self Service, with the added bonus that they will display the up-to-date message, when the conditions are met.

User Interaction

These are not needed as notifications are triggered via jamJAR.
