Summary

Deliver a zi-install skill the same way the code-review skill is delivered: canonical at .github/skills/zi-install/SKILL.md in this repository, installable with gh skill install z-shell/.github .github/skills/zi-install --pin <sha> --dir .github/skills, and discoverable by Copilot, Claude Code, and Codex alike. It is the machine-readable half of the wiki's planned Agent installation tab (z-shell/wiki#921).

What the skill carries

• The supported non-interactive installer invocations (-a loader; default profile with -i skip for install-only) and the rule that the agent drives the installer and never writes .zshrc or the Zi configuration home itself.
• Environment rules: honour ZDOTDIR, treat only absolute XDG_* values as valid (the installer's own rule), never run as root, never start an interactive shell during installation.
• Verification: a fresh zsh -ic 'zi -h'; for the loader profile, that zzinit ran and removed its helpers; how to read the installer's refusal messages (non-fast-forward checkout, invalid -b).
• When the planner from ADR-0025 ships (Guided setup planner: implementation contract deferred from ADR-0025 review src#208): run plan, show the diff, then apply, and present the receipt. The skill is the first "future interface that invokes the src CLI and presents its output" that the ADR names; it must not become a second write path.

Delivery

• Manifest route in .github/instruction-surfaces.json and the seven-question impact review from runbooks/instruction-update.md in the pull request.
• Provenance and installation per runbooks/org-review.md ("Install or update after authorization"); pilot in src first.
• Keep the skill short and procedural; the wiki tab owns the prose for humans.
