Laser Workflow Example

All GCode files for your job have been generated and uploaded to Octoprint
Your machine does not have an adjustable Z axis
- Jog your laser to an area out of the way of where you will be placing your workpiece
- Place your workpiece
- Machine Home via Machine Home button
- Jog X/Y to the same starting point (Datum) you identified in your slicer in relation to the workpiece you've placed
- Select XY axis in the axis selection panel
- Set Working Plane Home/Origin (Crosshairs button below the axis selection panel) for XY
- Adjust your laser focus / z position manually (or via Z jogging if available)
- Machine Home via Machine Home button
- Working Plane Home your XY axes (home button in the middle of the jogging panel)
- Verify your starting point is in the same place you set it in 6. If it is wrong, go back to step 4
- (Optional) Use bgs's Framing tool to verify placement / alignment
- If changes are required go back to step 4
- Start your job
If you using Lightburn, I suggest using Current Position
for your Start From
setting. I have had mixed results setting it to User Origin
. For reasons I'm not sure of, I've seen it add an offset of 10mm when User Origin
is selected.
