WG-Embedded

Artifacts

  • Visual examples of projects (videos - hobbyist projects)
  • Getting started documentation
    • audience: knows some Rust and some embedded
    • can point to extra docs like the Rust book / Discovery book
  • Production users / user stories
  • Attributes
    • code reuse: drivers that run everywhere. Image constrast

Critique

  • might have a different audience (developers or CTOs??)
  • Florian thinks this would be a very good thing based on his trip to Embedded World

TODO list

  • There are two more testimonials to add.

  • We should reach out to the testimonial authors and ask them:

    • what's their role at their company, so we can add it to the testimonial and
be more in line with the testimonials in the front
      page
      of the new website.
    • for a high(er) res pic of their company's logo
  • The testimonials we have on the webpage right now are one liners but the text
submitted to us contains more technical details. Personally, I'd like to
include some technical details but the layout would need to adjusted.
Thoughts? I think managers may want to know what kind of projects have been
    successfully tackled with Rust.

  • We need some text for the project gallery section. We also need to change
the video. Pollen robotics is no longer using Rust as they focusing on their
hardware projects. Perhaps we can put a video of the monotron here since it's quite
    popular?

  • We have an unused spot in the why Rust section. We could write "developed
by the community" since core crates, docs and resources are developed and
maintained by the WG. Other suggestions?

  • In the get started section we should probably add a link to the
    bookshelf. Perhaps we could add
it as a "More docs" button like the button in the project gallery section.

  • In the friends section we should fill in details about how the companies
are using Rust. OR if we add technical details to the testimonial perhaps this
section can be removed? Or at least the companies in the testimonials section
    should not be repeated here.

  • Regarding links to book chapters, we should add tests to e.g. the book
repo ensuring that the URLs won't accidentally change.

  • Review the text with Aaron

cc @jamesmunns anything else that you think should be done before the public
beta?

Hi guys, would you mind if we add a testimonial of slowtec? (see rust-embedded/wg#108 (comment))
