Unfortunately, metaProvider is only used by the HTTP server (mf.startServer/mf.createServer) at the moment 😦

The first (passing) test fails in my work repo, suggesting some test-harness config issue, or package version.
The second (failing) test I'm attempting as a workaround; not sure what I'm doing wrong...
