Junicode is a mature product offering nearly 6,000 glyphs and an extensive collection of OpenType features—so many, in fact, that it has become very difficult (sometimes impossible) to add new ones. For example, all of the 99 Character Variant features are in use, and so are all but one of the Stylistic Set features. Considering the font substantially complete, I have decided to limit new glyphs and features.

These issues are welcome:

  • Bug reports (malfunctioning OpenType features, malformed glyphs, bad spacing, etc.).
  • Requests to enhance support for languages, fields of study, etc., which are already supported by Junicode.
  • Adding glyph variants which can be accessed via existing OpenType features (e.g. a new shape of “a”) or Unicode code points and are consistent with what is already in the font.

These issues will (usually) be closed without comment:

  • Requests for support of new languages, scripts, and fields of study—basically all major projects.
  • Requests to add glyphs that require new OpenType features for access.
  • Requests to add new OpenType features, except when they support the font’s mission or are closely related to features that are already present.
  • Requests for glyphs or other features that are incompatible with Junicode’s style and mission or that do not appear to support a requester’s project. (It helps to explain why you want a glyph or feature.)
