Backport of PR #11172

resolves this awesome error:

    ERROR: /app/squashfs-root
has mode 0700, but it must be readable and executable for all users (owner, group and others); the AppImage is run by users other than you, who would get 'Permission denied'
           Fix: chmod a+r,a+x '/app/squashfs-root'
    [...]
appimagetool: found 88 problem(s) in the AppDir, nothing was changed and no AppImage was created.
Fix the paths listed above, then run appimagetool again. To fix all read/execute permissions at once, run:
        chmod -R a+rX '/app/squashfs-root'
        chmod a+rx '/app/squashfs-root/AppRun'
If the files belong to root, prefix the chmod commands with sudo or first take ownership with this command: sudo chown -R $(id -un):$(id -gn) '/app/squashfs-root'
If you are certain that your AppImage needs these modes, pass --no-check-permissions to skip this check.
