At time of writing, I believe Hexical is most feature-rich, extensive, and fleshed-out Hexcasting addon in existence. It started as wanting to fill in various gaps I saw in Hexcasting. What are things that a Hexcaster should be able to do, that any mage should be able to do? Simple things like conjuring floating text and patterns, compiling a grimoire to cast faster, and cast Hexes by waving their arms like evokers.
Over time, Hexical grew. I added Conjure Flower for a person I love. I added Greater Blink because I was taking linear algebra and wanted to make people use matrix operations to teleport, but made up for it in versatility, reliability, and cheapness. When I got obsessed with D&D spells, I added Magic Missile, Prestidigitation, and Wristpocket.
Hexical is my passion project. It is my own additions and spins to a mod I greatly enjoyed for a game that I dearly adore. It also has a very flexible and fluid identity, but a distinct identity nonetheless. I have removed features like mage blocks that have been in since the beginning since they grew unwieldy to program and manage, and they could not be done justice in Hexical, nor did I feel that Hexical improved from their being there. Amber Seal was a spell that let you magically seal a block entity, break it, and move it elsewhere before placing but that felt so non-modular, like it was a thing to do rather than a function to do more things so I removed it before it ever had a public version.
I wanted to make an addon that filled in the holes of the Hexcasting experience for me, while still being something I enjoy working on, and something with a coherent substance. Hexical is the mod that adds extra spells while also adding a handful of magical items and trinkets and quirky plushies to collect. Based on its popularity, it seems it has filled that gap for other people too. Enjoy :]
