Motivation

First part of switching from black to ruff format (follow-up PR in this stack). The formatting gets its own commit on main, so it can be skipped in git blame and isn't mixed with the tooling change.

Changes

Applies ruff format 0.17.0 to rolo/ and tests/ (12 files, +12): mostly a blank line after module docstrings, plus a few statements that now fit in 100 characters.

The 3 dummy implementations (def f(): ... on one line) are left on two lines for now, because black 23.10.0, which CI still runs here, doesn't accept the one-line form yet. The follow-up PR collapses them when it switches to ruff format.

Testing

  • black 23.10.0 and ruff 0.1.0 (the current CI tools) pass.
  • No behavior change, formatting only.

🤖 Generated with Claude Code

Applies ruff format 0.17.0, except for the dummy implementations (`...` on
the same line), which black 23.10.0 doesn't accept yet.
