The API was updated so that the memory space refers to the buffer's memory space, so we need to update to VMEM here.

Summary of Changes

Hello @justinjfu, I'm Gemini Code Assist1! I'm currently reviewing this pull request and will post my feedback shortly. In the meantime, here's a summary to help you and other reviewers quickly get up to speed!

This pull request addresses an API update within the Pallas framework by modifying the emit_pipeline example in the TPU distributed documentation. The change specifically updates the memory_space configuration for BlockSpec to VMEM, which is now the correct setting following the API's redefinition of how memory space is interpreted for buffers. This ensures the documentation accurately reflects the current API behavior.

Highlights

  • API Compatibility: The memory_space parameter in pl.BlockSpec has been updated from pltpu.TPUMemorySpace.ANY to pltpu.TPUMemorySpace.VMEM to align with a recent API change where memory_space now refers to the buffer's memory space.
  • Documentation Update: The emit_pipeline example within the Pallas TPU distributed documentation has been modified to reflect this API change, ensuring the example remains accurate and functional.

Code Review

This pull request updates an example in the Pallas TPU distributed computing documentation. The change replaces pltpu.TPUMemorySpace.ANY with pltpu.TPUMemorySpace.VMEM for an inner_block_spec used with emit_pipeline. This is consistent with the pull request description, which mentions an API update, and aligns with the surrounding documentation that explains the inner kernel operates on VMEM. The change is correct and improves the clarity and accuracy of the example. The same change is correctly applied to both the Jupyter notebook and its markdown version.
