I suppose that it's a matter of priorities.

@hunner is working in another modules and this module isn't officially supported by Puppet (see the list of supported modules)

I was hitting on this error and found a (cheesy) work around. The parameter "install_url" just passes through the URL without validation so;

install_url    => '--no-check-certificate https://wordpress.org',
