ci: drop Debian GNU/Linux bookworm from packaging #4419

Closed

Description

@otegami

What feature or improvement would you like to see?

Apache Arrow dropped Debian bookworm from its packaging in apache/arrow#50201.

The arrow-adbc's Packaging workflow checks out apache/arrow with no ref pinned and
relies on its dev/release/binary-task.rb to generate the APT repository metadata
and run verify-apt.sh.

Now that arrow no longer supports bookworm, the Linux debian-bookworm job fails,
so the Packaging workflow is red on every PR that touches the matched paths.

    As a minor note it was removed because it reached EOL on 2026-06-10:

    For maintainers.

    For scope, this GH-4420 only touches the APT package build/verify targets. Two other
    files still reference bookworm, but they are CI build-environment images rather
    than package distribution targets, so I left them out of this change:

    • ci/docker/cpp-clang-latest.dockerfile
    • ci/docker/spiceai-init.dockerfile

    If this direction looks good, I'll migrate both to trixie in a follow-up PR
    (debian:13 / debian:trixie-slim and the matching LLVM channel).
