The index looks a bit dated and not that inviting. I took the liberty to give a facelift to the
index.rst. The index looks much more inviting and modern than the current implemenationCurrent:

Furthermore, this PR introduces a side bar that allows for quick navigation on in the docs

This feature can be turned off by using
.. notoc::otherwise is turned on by default.
