Navigation

Tip

Use the navigation bar located on the left side to navigate to the various pages in TimVer.

Windows Information

The Windows Info page shows Windows operating system information including the OS edition, version, build number, branch, architecture, installation date, Windows folder, and temp folder.

Tip

The registered owner and registered organization are optionally displayed. See Settings -> Application Settings -> Display registered user and organization on Windows Information page.

Hardware Information

The Hardware Information page shows information about the computer such as the manufacturer, model, and machine name. The last boot date and time and computer uptime are displayed. It also shows information about the CPU, including the processor name and description, the number of cores and logical processors (threads), and the processor architecture. The BIOS manufacturer, version and date are shown, followed by the amount of physical memory, but installed and useable.

Drive Information

The Disk Drive Information page has two tabs. The first tab shows information about logical drives. The second tab shows information about the physical disk drives.

Tip

Data collection for drives can be delayed if drives are in sleep or power saving mode. There can also be a delay if a network drive is unavailable. Network drives may be excluded in Settings -> Disk Drive Settings -> Logical Drive Options.

Tip

Drive size can be displayed in either GB (1000^3 bytes) or GiB (1024^3 bytes). This can be switched via Settings -> Disk Drive Settings.

Logical Drives

The Logical Drives tab shows the drive name (letter), label, type, format, size, amount of free space in bytes and as a percentage. Displaying two of the columns, type and format, can be toggled. These options, as well as options for selecting which drives are displayed, are available in Settings -> Disk Drive Settings -> Logical Drive Options.

Physical Drives

Important

Data collection for physical drives can take significantly longer than collecting information for logical drives. Therefore the option to collect the information is disabled by default. To enable it, go to Settings -> Disk Drive Settings -> Enable collection of Physical Drive information.

The Physical Drives tab shows information about the physical disk drives. There are columns for the drive index (drive number), size, number of partitions, type, media type, interface, bus type, health, partition style, if the drive is the boot drive, model. Except for index and size, you can choose which columns to display. Go to Settings -> Disk Drive Settings -> Physical Drive Options.

Graphics (Video) Information

This page shows some basic information about graphics adapters. This includes the adapter name, type, and description as well as the device ID, current resolution, current refresh rate, adapter RAM, bits per pixel and number of colors. There is a drop-down at the bottom to select the adapter to be displayed.

Note

I don't have access to a computer with multiple graphics adapters. I would appreciate some feedback if there were unexpected results on a computer with multiple adapters.

Environment Variables

The Environment page shows the current environmental variables. The Filter box at the top can be used to filter the list by variable name.

Build History

The Build History page shows historical information from the previous times TimVer was run. This can be used to compare build numbers before and after running Windows Update. Only one history record will be recorded per build number.

Tip

Build history is optional. It can be enabled or disabled in Settings -> Application Settings -> Keep build history. If disabled, it will not appear on the Navigation bar.

Settings

There are four sections on the settings page. Sections can be expanded by clicking on the title or the chevron on the right.

Application Settings

This section allows setting the initial page, history options, show user and organization name, and control log verbosity.

Disk Drive Settings

This section has options for the display of disk drives. See the Drive Information section above.

UI Settings

This section has options for the theme, UI size, accent color, row height, window start position, keep on top, and an option to show/hide Exit in the navigation bar.

Language

This section allows the language used in the user interface to be changed to one of the defined languages. Note that changing the language will cause WUView to restart immediately.

Tip

There is also an option to enable language testing. See the Testing a Language File topic for more information.

About

The About page shows information about the app such as the version number and has a link to the GitHub repository. There is also a link to the readme file. You can also check for new releases of this application by clicking the link at the bottom of the About page. At the bottom of the About page there is a scrollable list of the people that contributed a translation.
