RadpretationExtension is an advanced AI-powered radiology workflow integration extension for 3D Slicer designed to bridge modern cloud-based radiology platforms with high-performance local medical imaging processing.
The extension integrates Orthanc PACS, DICOMWeb services (QIDO-RS / WADO-URI), and local Slicer-based 3D visualization workflows into a unified and extensible architecture. By running a lightweight local bridge server inside 3D Slicer, the plugin enables remote orchestration of Slicer directly from browser-based radiology applications such as OHIF and Next.js clinical workstations.
RadpretationExtension provides seamless study loading, asynchronous DICOM streaming, automated segmentation export pipelines, and dynamic PACS configuration while maintaining responsive UI performance through background-threaded processing.
Key capabilities include:
• High-performance DICOMWeb study retrieval from Orthanc PACS
• Automated study loading into 3D Slicer from external web platforms
• Local HTTP bridge server for browser-to-Slicer communication
• One-click DICOM SEG export and Orthanc upload workflows
• Dynamic PACS endpoint and authentication management
• Modular, loosely coupled architecture for scalable AI workflow integration
• Thread-safe asynchronous processing optimized for large medical imaging datasets
• Extensible service-oriented codebase for future radiology automation features
The extension is designed for radiology workflow acceleration, AI-assisted imaging pipelines, research environments, and enterprise-grade medical imaging integrations within the 3D Slicer ecosystem.
