The Generic Host defaults to logging all entries to Windows Event Log. Each entry in Event Log has a property "event id". This property is not set by ServiceControl. As a result, all entries have event id 0 which makes it hard to set alarms.

Describe the suggested solution

There seems to be API for customizing the event id:

logger.Log(
    LogLevel.Error,
    new EventId(5001, "DatabaseFailure"),
    "Database connection failed"
);

that can be used for some or all log statements. The downside of this approach is the fact that users might be relying on the fact that the event id is currently 0 so this change is likely a breaking change in the public API. This could be considered for the next major release.
