Lightspinner is intended as a pedagogic exercise for learning the MALI method. It is built on a stripped down variant of an old branch of Lightweaver (production grade Python RT framework (doi: 10.5281/zenodo.4066860). Improvements could be made to the way astropy.units are applied to the Atmosphere object (see the current approach used in Lightweaver), but this should not affect learning opportunities.
