To handle coverity warning: 4. thread2_modifies_field: Thread2 sets cache_size to a new value. Note that this write can be reordered at runtime to occur before instructions that do not access this field within this locked region. After Thread2 leaves the critical section, control is switched back to Thread1. CID 1559509 (#1 of 1): Check of thread-shared field evades lock acquisition (LOCK_EVASION)6. thread1_overwrites_value_in_field: Thread1 sets cache_size to a new value. Now the two threads have an inconsistent view of cache_size and updates to fields correlated with cache_size may be lost. 521 cache->cache_size += bo->size; Reviewed-by: Juan A. 1. always keep the query in gpu memory, so we can implement qbos properly. 2. use a lightweight data structure for tracking writers to reduce overhead 3. allow many writers per query to eliminate stalls 4. use context-wide occlusion heap, to satisfy #1 without introducing flushes or silly copies. this is what the pvr mesa driver does :-) Signed-off-by: Alyssa Rosenzweig <[email protected]> Part-of: <https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/mesa/mesa/-/merge_requests/27616>

1. compile the gs rast program with the rest of the GS. this requires duplicating some shader key stuff but this will be improved soon, and actually this makes it easier to reason about caching imo. 2. don't recurse into draw_vbo, collapse the GS launches into the draw. again this duplicates some code but makes it easier to reason about things and is probably faster. and makes part #1 feasible without piling on hacks (my original goal) Signed-off-by: Alyssa Rosenzweig <[email protected]> Part-of: <https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/mesa/mesa/-/merge_requests/27616>

For a TU_PIPELINE_GRAPHICS_LIB we were taking a ref to the descriptor
set layout but never releasing on VK_PIPELINE_COMPILE_REQUIRED.
Since VK_PIPELINE_COMPILE_REQUIRED is technically an error, the user
doesn't call vkDestroyPipeline() for it so the descriptor sets
referenced were never getting freed.

This change prevents the reuse of the bo when the counter is already zero. At zero, the bo is in a state where the deletion is pending, and this implementation relying on an atomic counter can't be safely stopped. In other words, the previous fix ccd3bb4 lower the probability of this race condition, but doesn't fix it. This change prevents a race condition which has a high probability on r600 with the test below. This change was tested with the thread sanitizer. For instance, this issue is triggered on r600 with "piglit/bin/ext_image_dma_buf_import-refcount-multithread -auto": ==9876==ERROR: AddressSanitizer: heap-use-after-free on address 0x60d000021a20 at pc 0x7f2c9f59f748 bp 0x7f2c8f3aa600 sp 0x7f2c8f3aa5f8 READ of size 4 at 0x60d000021a20 thread T6 #0 0x7f2c9f59f747 in pipe_is_referenced ../src/gallium/auxiliary/util/u_inlines.h:65 #1 0x7f2c9f59f747 in radeon_bo_destroy ../src/gallium/winsys/radeon/drm/radeon_drm_bo.c:342 #2 0x7f2c9f63b541 in radeon_bo_reference ../src/gallium/include/winsys/radeon_winsys.h:794 #3 0x7f2c9f63b541 in r600_texture_destroy ../src/gallium/drivers/r600/r600_texture.c:571 #4 0x7f2c9d65662d in pipe_resource_destroy ../src/gallium/auxiliary/util/u_inlines.h:146 #5 0x7f2c9d65662d in pipe_resource_reference ../src/gallium/auxiliary/util/u_inlines.h:163 #6 0x7f2c9d65662d in st_FreeTextureImageBuffer ../src/mesa/state_tracker/st_cb_texture.c:459 #7 0x7f2c9d5b6991 in _mesa_delete_texture_image ../src/mesa/main/teximage.c:226 #8 0x7f2c9d5f2593 in _mesa_delete_texture_object ../src/mesa/main/texobj.c:532 #9 0x7f2c9d5f2be7 in _mesa_reference_texobj_ ../src/mesa/main/texobj.c:639 #10 0x7f2c9d5f3773 in _mesa_reference_texobj ../src/mesa/main/texobj.h:92 #11 0x7f2c9d5f3773 in delete_textures ../src/mesa/main/texobj.c:1578 0x60d000021a20 is located 0 bytes inside of 144-byte region [0x60d000021a20,0x60d000021ab0) freed by thread T5 here: #0 0x7f2ca8b2b4f7 in free (/usr/lib64/libasan.so.6+0xb14f7) #1 0x7f2c9f59efb3 in radeon_bo_destroy ../src/gallium/winsys/radeon/drm/radeon_drm_bo.c:401 #2 0x7f2c9f63b541 in radeon_bo_reference ../src/gallium/include/winsys/radeon_winsys.h:794 #3 0x7f2c9f63b541 in r600_texture_destroy ../src/gallium/drivers/r600/r600_texture.c:571 #4 0x7f2c9d65662d in pipe_resource_destroy ../src/gallium/auxiliary/util/u_inlines.h:146 #5 0x7f2c9d65662d in pipe_resource_reference ../src/gallium/auxiliary/util/u_inlines.h:163 #6 0x7f2c9d65662d in st_FreeTextureImageBuffer ../src/mesa/state_tracker/st_cb_texture.c:459 #7 0x7f2c9d5b6991 in _mesa_delete_texture_image ../src/mesa/main/teximage.c:226 #8 0x7f2c9d5f2593 in _mesa_delete_texture_object ../src/mesa/main/texobj.c:532 #9 0x7f2c9d5f2be7 in _mesa_reference_texobj_ ../src/mesa/main/texobj.c:639 #10 0x7f2c9d5f3773 in _mesa_reference_texobj ../src/mesa/main/texobj.h:92 #11 0x7f2c9d5f3773 in delete_textures ../src/mesa/main/texobj.c:1578 previously allocated by thread T6 here: #0 0x7f2ca8b2b9a7 in calloc (/usr/lib64/libasan.so.6+0xb19a7) #1 0x7f2c9f5a36d5 in radeon_winsys_bo_from_handle ../src/gallium/winsys/radeon/drm/radeon_drm_bo.c:1198 #2 0x7f2c9f641b2a in r600_texture_from_handle ../src/gallium/drivers/r600/r600_texture.c:1105 #3 0x7f2c9d47550a in dri_create_image_from_winsys ../src/gallium/frontends/dri/dri2.c:1007 #4 0x7f2c9d47eeb9 in dri2_from_dma_bufs ../src/gallium/frontends/dri/dri2.c:1629 #5 0x7f2ca8854360 in dri2_create_image_dma_buf ../src/egl/drivers/dri2/egl_dri2.c:2564 #6 0x7f2ca8854f45 in dri2_create_image_khr ../src/egl/drivers/dri2/egl_dri2.c:2817 #7 0x7f2ca8846f2c in dri2_create_image ../src/egl/drivers/dri2/egl_dri2.c:1864 #8 0x7f2ca87f9dd8 in _eglCreateImageCommon ../src/egl/main/eglapi.c:1850 Fixes: ccd3bb4 ("winsys/radeon: fix a race between bo import and destroy") Signed-off-by: Patrick Lerda <[email protected]> Reviewed-by: Marek Olšák <[email protected]> Part-of: <https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/mesa/mesa/-/merge_requests/32896>

to make it easier for people (especially newcomers to the project) to add review tags, we need a database mapping gitlab usernames to author names & emails. that way, if someone just comments "rb" or whatever, there's a direct way to look that up. this comimt adds a list of current contributors with the following methodology: 1. first, I grabbed all names + emails of recent authors, with mailmap applied, as proxy for active contributors: $ git log --since=2025-01-01 --pretty='%aN,%aE,'|sort | uniq 2. then, I scraped usernames via the gitlab api attempting to match by name. I don't want to hammer the gitlab api too much which is why I tried to keep the list in #1 as small as possible. import gitlab import subprocess import tempfile import sys import urllib.request import csv gl = gitlab.Gitlab('https://gitlab.freedesktop.org', private_token=...) names = {} with open('dump.csv') as csvfile: spamreader = csv.reader(csvfile) for row in spamreader: if len(row) == 3: names[row[0]] = row[1] for name in names: users = gl.users.list(search=name) print(', '.join([name, names[name]] + [u.username for u in users])) 3. finally, I fixed up various data issues by hand. there were cases of both people with multiple usernames (I tried to pick the one that's actually in use), and people whose name on their profile does not match the name in their commits (I tried to determine the username from searching gitlab manually, but dropped a number of such authors when it was nontrivial to figure out. I am a regular reviewer across the tree so if I don't recognize your name you're probably not that active, sorry.) …C_BUFFERS The values of gl_constants.MaxAtomicBufferBindings and gl_program_constants.MaxAtomicBuffers are derived from pipe_shader_caps.max_hw_atomic_counter_buffers, which is synchronized with the host's GL_MAX_*_ATOMIC_COUNTER_BUFFERS. Based on the definition of struct virgl_context and other factors, the current virgl driver can only support a maximum of 32 atomic buffers. If no restrictions are imposed on pipe_shader_caps.max_hw_atomic_counter_buffers, an error like the following will occur in the vm when the host's GL_MAX_*_ATOMIC_COUNTER_BUFFERS exceeds 32. The mechanism implemented in the hardware to synchronize against Write after Read hazards with the visibility stream for concurrent binning is for BV and BR to keep track of the number of render passes they have finished and BV waits until BR_count >= BV_count - vis stream count. For example, if there are two visibility streams and the user submits three renderpasses, before starting renderpass #3 BV will wait for BR to finish renderpass #1. It's assumed that renderpass #3 and #2 use different visibility streams, so it's safe to start working on #3 once #2 is done. This mechanism is assumed to work across renderpasses and even submits, and the only way to reset the BR/BV counts is via CP_RESET_CONTEXT_STATE which is only done by the kernel when switching contexts. This vastly complicates things for Vulkan, where we have no idea what order command buffers will be submitted. This means that we have to defer emitting the actual pointers until submission time and create patchpoints instead. This gets unfortunately very complicated with SIMULTANEOUS_USE_BIT where we have to update the patchpoints on the GPU. I've taken the liberty of also deferring the allocation of the visibility stream until submit time. This will help us later move to per-queue visibility streams, which will be necessary for supporting multiple simultaneous queues.
