Summary

  • extend the git data pipeline to recognize Codeberg repositories, including authenticated cloning, file retrieval helpers, and repository name parsing with dedicated tests.
  • update the client and API integrations to use the Forgejo endpoints so Codeberg repositories load structure, README content, and metadata like the other supported hosts
  • refresh localization strings and UI affordances so Codeberg appears throughout repository selection and host messaging
  • Note: Currently, only public Codeberg repositories are reachable. Private repositories are not yet accessible, even with the provided access token.

Testing

  • pytest test/test_extract_repo_name.py

Summary of Changes

Hello @Medenor, I'm Gemini Code Assist1! I'm currently reviewing this pull request and will post my feedback shortly. In the meantime, here's a summary to help you and other reviewers quickly get up to speed!

This pull request significantly expands the platform's compatibility by introducing full support for Codeberg repositories. The changes span the entire application, from the core data pipeline's ability to interact with Codeberg's Git and API endpoints, to updates in the user interface and localization to reflect this new integration. This enhancement allows users to generate documentation from Codeberg hosted projects, broadening the scope of supported version control systems.

Highlights

  • Codeberg Integration: Added comprehensive support for Codeberg repositories, enabling the system to recognize, clone, and retrieve files from Codeberg instances.
  • Authenticated Access: Implemented authenticated cloning and file retrieval for Codeberg repositories using access tokens, similar to existing GitHub support.
  • API and UI Updates: Updated both the backend API and frontend UI to incorporate Codeberg as a supported repository type, including new UI elements and localization strings across multiple languages.
  • Repository Metadata and Content Fetching: Extended the data pipeline to fetch repository structure, README content, and other metadata from Codeberg using its Forgejo/Gitea-compatible API endpoints.
  • Public Repositories Only (Current Limitation): Currently, only public Codeberg repositories are accessible, with private repository access via tokens not yet fully functional.

Code Review

This pull request adds support for Codeberg repositories across the application. The changes include updating the data pipeline to clone and fetch files from Codeberg, modifying the frontend to recognize and display Codeberg repositories, and updating localization strings. The implementation is solid and consistent with existing support for other Git hosts. I've found a few minor areas for improvement in the backend error handling and messaging for better robustness and clarity.
