ISP Network Simulation using RIP v2

Objective

Simulate a small ISP-style network connecting multiple branch routers using RIP version 2 for dynamic routing and a DHCP server for automatic IP assignment to LAN clients.


Topology Summary

  • 4 routers (R0–R3) in a ring topology (serial links)
  • 4 switches (one per LAN)
  • 4 PCs (one per LAN)
  • 1 DHCP server on R0 LAN
  • Routing protocol: RIP v2 (dynamic routing)

Verification

Commands

Command Purpose
show ip route Verify routing table and RIP-learned routes
show ip protocols Confirm RIP v2 is active
show ip interface brief Check interface status
ping <ip> Test connectivity between LANs

Results

  • All routers exchanged routes dynamically using RIP v2
  • DHCP server assigned IPs automatically to LAN clients
  • PCs successfully communicated across all LANs with 0% packet loss

How to Open This Project

  1. Download or clone this repository
  2. Open Cisco Packet Tracer
  3. Go to File → Open
  4. Navigate to this folder and open isp-network-sim-ripv2.pkt

About
