Slider switch is difficult to use #1
Comments
I actually just had the slider completely shear off because of this. |
Ooof. Let's try to find something better, for sure. |
I should also mention that the reset button doesn't work very well either, but the corner of my button looks a bit melted, so that might just be the fault of my soldering. Slightly larger switches would probably work better. Whatever switch is used on the nRF52/53 DK for the power switch slides easily and falls into its detents nicely. I'm not sure if there's a SP3T/DP3T version of that, but if so, it might not fit where the slider switch currently is. Maybe you could move the slider switch to the area underneath the display so you can fit a larger one, and then put a (not right angle) tactile switch where the slider was? |
@joelspadin Thoughts on this one from Alps? See https://tech.alpsalpine.com/e/products/detail/SSSS212901/ It has the advantages of:

Hard to say without trying one in person, but that looks better to me. |
The slider switch doesn't extend past the edge of the PCB, so it's a bit hard to adjust. Additionally, the chosen switch is quite stiff and has weak detents, so getting it into the center position is difficult.
