Retrieving logs from the System Core

We had an interesting failure on the robot yesterday in which it was enabled, the motors were still active, and suddenly the controller inputs were no longer being used by the robot. We need to figure out what went wrong, how does one retrieve the logs from the SystemCore? We tried the two methods we were familiar with, using AdvantageScope to download the logs, and FileZilla aswell.

On Advantage Scope, we got this message.

We were connected on AdvantageScope to the 172.28.0.1 IP and were getting live logging from the robot.

On FileZilla we tried both IPs from above with username that we used on the roboRio, "lvuser", using port 22.

The username and password are both systemcore, if you're trying to SSH in. AdvantageScope should work, assuming you're using one from the Alpha, and not a 2025 release. I'm assuming based on that message you're using the 2025 release.

Alright, will try to ssh in using those specs. In regards to Advantage scope, we were using the Alpha_1 release version of Advantage Scope, these message are from that version.

The 2027 releases of AdvantageScope will not produce that message, it was changed to say “Robot” instead of “roboRIO”. Note that the first 2027 alpha of WPILib shipped with AdvantageScope 2025.
