Does browser page maginification count as a method for resizing text? #4305
-
I have read in several places that Resize Text is passed if at least one method results in 200% text size without loss of content or functionality (as long as the method does not count as assistive technology). Does page magnification (pinching to zoom on trackpad or touchscreen etc.) count as a text resize method? Perhaps simply blowing up all the pixels does not count as resizing the text. I realise that this could make the SC fail rarely in practice, but perhaps magnification was mostly provided by assistive technology when this criterion was written. |

I have also encountered Technique G142. Would I be correct in interpreting the unform content scaling referred to in the technique as the same method as the browser magnification I referred to earlier? I am reluctant to interpret it in this way, as I have not seen it mentioned in other discussions and it results in a very lightweight requirement. |

Yes, being able to full-page zoom without things then falling apart is a way to pass 1.4.4 Resize Text |

Chrome does respond differently when you zoom with the keyboard/mouse vs. touch screen. When you pinch with the touch screen Chrome zooms in without causing a change of viewport. |

and to answer the original question, both types of zooming - if they work - are acceptable to pass resize text
