Flexmark does not render { and }

I am using flexmark and below are the code snippet

working :

require 'redcarpet'
markdown = Redcarpet.new("Hello World!")
puts markdown.to_html

public class HelloWorld 
    public static void main(String[] args) 
        System.out.println(\"Hello, world!\"); 
    

not working snippet :

public class HelloWorld { 
    public static void main(String[] args) { 
        System.out.println(\"Hello, world!\"); 
    } 
}
