It works on macos, and mostly on linux with x11. Afaik it is not tested yet on windows, but the repo does not have platform specific code, so it should work everywhere, that sokol and gg work (if there are no bugs in them).

A lot of people are going to be apprehensive if this is not tested on platforms like Windows and Android. Maybe using something like VirtualBox would help.

Definitely need to test. I'm finding that various VUI examples do not work on Android. It appears that it can not be assumed that because sokol or gg works by themselves, that derivatives like VUI or GUI will automatically work too.

The Windows version of V uses GCC, right? Why do I get a Visual C++ error dialog?

Finally, the GUI is now displayed in the Windows environment.

However, there are two problems.

1. I still get the error.

2. On Windows, unless you explicitly specify an option to hide the console window when compiling, the console window will be displayed even when you run a GUI application.

For example, if you specify -mwindows when compiling with GCC, the console window will not be displayed even when you run a GUI application.

window.set_theme() is not working on Windows. Neither the preset themes nor the themes I defined myself work.

The MSVC++ error dialog appears (exactly the same as last time), and when I press the retry button the following error is printed to the console:

From what I can see, the following features don't work:

Multiline not working

As you continue to type, the text will not wrap, will continue to flow outside the control, and eventually will flow outside the window and become invisible.

Keyboard shortcuts

The following keystrokes are unresponsive:

• Ctrl+A
• Delete
• Backspace
• Ctrl+C
• Ctrl+X

Text destruction

Because character strings are processed as string, if you enter Japanese text and then move the cursor randomly across the text, if the cursor is not at the correct character boundary, the text will be corrupted when you resume entering text from that point.

To avoid this problem, you need to handle strings as rune instead of string.

If development continues without the GUI being multilingualized, Japanese people like me will either have to give up using this library or be forced to make major modifications to it.

Thanks for the feedback. Couple of things here:

• Many of the issues you're reporting do work on Mac and Linux. I'm not stupid and have some idea what is required in input control.
• I'm a lone developer doing this on my own time. There's no "big" team here, so I expect and require you to temper your expectations.
• I've made it clear in numerous places that I don't have a Windows computer to test this stuff on. If someone wants to donate a Windows 11 computer, then I'll support it more.
• Emulating Windows in a virtual server is not an option. I've tried it and it's miserable at best and does not ensure it will work on real hardware.

If development continues without the GUI being multilingualized, Japanese people like me will either have to give up using this library or be forced to make major modifications to it.

Oh, please spare me the drama. No one is forcing anyone to do anything. As for major modifications, you may want to look at the code before you make sweeping pronouncements.

For the record, I use runes and try to account for multibyte sequences everywhere text is measured. Likely, I missed a few places in the code. I understand the world is more than English.

You obviously spent a significant amount of time testing the framework and providing feedback. I appreciate that and welcome more feedback.

@ekfacile I've reviewed the input control and supporting code, and while I handle text via runes in most places, there were a few places where I didn't. Working to get those fixed. Input controls are complex, and it will likely be a long time before I iron out most issues listed below.

• right-to-left text
• vertical text (very low priority)
• integration with IMEs
• select scrolling with the mouse
• some of the copy/paste stuff is broken (again)

Thanks for reporting your finds on BSD. I've seen some odd things on Linux with Wayland as well. V-gui is heavily dependent on Sokol which has issues in Wayland at the moment.
