ssl error - see below

When trying to add a secret to a new repo just created I get

HTTPSConnectionPool(host='api.github.com', port=443): Max retries exceeded with url: /repos/davesiddons/test1/actions/secrets/public-key (Caused by SSLError(SSLCertVerificationError(1, '[SSL: CERTIFICATE_VERIFY_FAILED] certificate verify failed: self signed certificate in certificate chain (_ssl.c:1123)')))

Any ideas
