Suggestion: Sample -> FM

So, I have a sound I'm trying to recreate, but can't get it to sound right. It might be hard, but could you possibly add a right click menu option to convert audio samples to a desired FM, for my example being sample to Sega Genesis.

An automatic conversion from .wav to an FM instrument, may not actually be possible due to the limitations of what four FM sine waves can do. Some sort of special tool for brute-forcing the closest approximation of a simple single cycle waveform loop like formants or oboe tones might be possible, but I'd imagine it would have to exist as an external third-party tool.

Can you make a DAW interface?
Can you open VGM/VGZ?
Can you turn WAV into FM?

Soulchip doesn't use AI. Maybe the answer was a little wordy though. there is no straightforward way to make samples into FM other than just brute force and doing it yourself.

Impossible without an extremely well-taught neural network being implemented into a Furnace.

Opposite FM -> PCM should be possible though

It wouldn't require AI, although that could be interesting and might produce better results.

It would require a complex algorithm. This is signal processing stuff. FM is definable by bessel functions etc etc etc...you could design heuristics to predict how to build up to something, and then experimentally try things until you get close into some constraint. This is how things like HDL synthesizers work, since it's impossible to just come up with an optimal chip layout, so you give it constraints like clock rate and area and power consumption and it tries to come up with something and then improve it until it reaches those constraints. I'm not sure if finding the right FM settings is actually the set covering problem though.

It'd be a good research project for your Ph.D. dissertation in computer engineering. That's the scale of the problem.
