This is a bit weird and might be down to my setup. if I save the patch and open it it behaves correctly but when making it it does not. so here is the steps to recreate:
my setup has date via as default audio and I switch to NI komplete Audio 6 when this happens.
Make an empty patch
Make an FFT (VAudio Sink)
Make an AudioIn (VAudio Source) and connect it to FFT
Make an IOBox (Value advanced) from the Output Bin Size of the FFT, set it to 6 rows
Make an Audio Engine and set it to play
Change the Driver to in my case Komplete Audio 6
observe the bins being of size 128,256,256,256,256,256
they should all be 128, right? at least that is when they are if you save the patch and reopen it
