Closing mahogany with connected clients makes them report crashes

Steps to reproduce:

1. Start mahogany.
2. Start a kcalc or konsole instance with C-t + or C-t c
3. Exit mahogany by pressing Esc or C-t q

If you are on KDE, you get a notification that the applications you had open crashed.

There must be some way to indicate to connected clients that they should disconnect and close.
