GWeb

A chrome extension which tracks the carbon footprint of the user due to web browsing. the_good the_bad

Why GWeb?

In terms of greenhouse gas emissions, internet use accounts for 3.7% of global emissions, i.e. the equivalent of all air traffic in the world. GWeb is a web extension which can be used by anyone and everyone as a means to support sustainable development. It helps us to know if a particular website uses “Green” servers (eco friendly) or not, with added features to track users’ data usage on a particular site for past one week. It also provides with a tip to keep in mind so that we always go green.

Usage

  1. Clone the repo
  2. Go to manage extensions and enable developer mode
  3. Click on load unpacked and navigate to the repo folder
  4. Enable the extension
  5. Awesome you are now set to go!!
