If you're running on linux, you can point as many battle net launchers to the same directory of d2r as you want.
There's no restrictions on how many you launch or anything.
After installing battle net and setting up a separate account, just find the directory of the other game you already have installed and set that and done.

This was made with Windows in mind which is probably majority of the userbase, but I would like to include some info for *nix users as well. I presume *nix instructions would work with Mac users too?

If you're able to provide some detailed instructions, I'd gladly include on this page :)

No mac is completely unrelated and way worse of a platform to work with

for linux you can just install this as many times as you want, after each install you just rename it and install another

or you can clone it and point them to the same directory so it doesn't use more disk space
