API minorversion changes coming from QuickBooks

FYI - we just received this in an email from QuickBooks:

In essence, an unspecified minorversion currently defaults to minorversion 1 - with the new changes it will default to the latest (currently 75).

I don't see where this gem is using an explicit minorversion currently.

Key Dates:
February 10, 2025 - sandboxes will receive new default API version of 75
August 1, 2025 - production will receive new default API version of 75

I'm not an authority here, but this appears to still be true in master (and in 2.0.5): #517 (comment) - a global default of 47 is in effect, unless you set it otherwise.

I had searched for minorversion in the gem path in RubyMine and saw no results - but it appear that there was an issue with my search since I see it now.

Thank you! Does this mean just manually setting minorversion to 75 is the fix for the upcoming API changes?

As far as I understand the email from QuickBooks - they are not removing support for older versions, just changing the default from 1 to 75 so if you don't have it specified, you probably should.

But since this gem does explicitly use minorversion 47, until that is scheduled for deprecation we should be okay.

I don't know about impacts (re: @jacobdewitz questions), but you might keep an eye on #622 (and/or set it to 75 and test what calls you use).

But @jmoberley, I read their post differently. Specifically "How does this impact me?":

In your API request, if you specify a value for the minorversion parameter that is less than 75, it will be ignored and the system will respond with data corresponding to minor version 75.

and "How do I test my changes?":

Starting February 10, 2025, you can use our sandbox environment to thoroughly test your application for compatibility with minor version 75 or later. Support for minor versions 1–74 in this environment will end on February 10, 2025.

It sounds like they are basically resetting to throw out support for 74 and below and only support 75 (their most current version) and future versions. In sandbox, that'll be on 2/1025, and in prod 8/1/25. (The change around defaulting seems to be: it will no longer default to v1 when not specified; instead, 75 is the new default, presumably as of those dates.)
