Deployment

ruby-lang.org leverages a two-head environment:

• the "pre-prod" (staging) environment is https://staging-ruby-lang.herokuapp.com
• the production server is https://www.ruby-lang.org

The staging environment runs on the same hardware (same bay!) as the production. It is deployed automatically by Travis CI when commits are pushed to the master branch, so one never has to deploy on staging.

Deploying www.ruby-lang.org is achieved by any editorial team's member, simply by pushing to the remote repository on Heroku:

git push heroku  # makes it live!

Promote staging to production:

git remote add staging https://git.heroku.com/staging-ruby-lang.git
heroku pipelines:promote -r staging -t www-ruby-lang
