Regardless of which entity I display (Main, Sub, Sub_2), the image always shows the stream in Main quality.
The problem also manifests itself in the fact that regardless of whether a given camera has "Sub Stream 2" enabled in its configuration or disabled, the Sub_2 entity in the integration is available and shows the image from Main. The Sub entity as well.

I managed to determine that this problem occurs in the "Home Assistant" app on MacOS.
If I run the HA dashboard on the same computer at the same time, but in Chrome, the effect is that the dashboard loads tiles in Main quality, but after a while switches them to Sub quality. The same thing happens when I click on a tile - the preview starts, which first shows a static frame in Main quality, then switches the resolution to Sub and starts playing.
In the iOS app, the behavior is the same as in the Chrome browser on MacOS (i.e. let's say correct, apart from the visible jump from static Main frame to stream Sub).
