Google Drive backend creates lots of duplicate folders

When leaving the browser window open for some time, while connected to the Google Drive backend, a lot of duplicate folders (with the same name) get created on Google Drive.

The files are written only to the oldest folder.

@Ragnis Not sure I understand this one. Is it actually possible to create folders with the exact same name on the same level with Google Drive? No suffix, like e.g. myfolder1 or myfolder_copy or anything?

If I remember correctly, the folders all had the exact same name and were on the same level.

IIRC, Google Drive has a folder system that's overlayed on top of a flat system, path is not a primary key for document Id. Instead, each document and each folder has a unique id, and you then link them together somehow to create the folders as an alternative view on what is basically a key-value store of documents

I had an app open for a whole day now, syncing all the time. I did not see any duplicate folders being created.

Same issue here

It seems to create the number of copies matching the number of files I wrote, not the amount of times I synced or left it open. Not sure.

so if I have:
foo/bar/zap
foo/bar/zap
foo/bar/bam

it will create:
foo
foo
foo
foo/bar
foo/bar
foo/bar
foo/bar/zap
foo/bar/zap
foo/bar/bam
