UI outlook for Bootc extension

We have several UI-related issues open for bootc. Although they are mostly independent, I wanted to document somewhere how they all fit together and what the end result might look like.

Today we have a single page (Bootable Containers) that shows disk images, either in-progress building or built. There's a welcome screen if you don't have any images (currently no way to get back to it without deleting all images), and a form to build another image.

If the current issues were implemented, in ~6 months we would have a sub-navigation panel (similar to Kubernetes or AI Lab) with the following pages:

• a welcome page/dashboard, with information on getting started/concepts and at least some context awareness (Improve landing page #863)
• a samples page (Share examples to help onboard new users #864)
• an Images page; similar to what's already in Podman Desktop, but filtered to bootable containers (Table of bootable containers #862)
• the current Disk Images page
• a Virtual Machine page, separating the work in Ability to test an image localy #752 into its own page so that you can see existing VMs, start/stop, etc. This is dependent on the evolution of podman-bootc and whether VMs are more ephemeral/transient or you can create more than one at a time
