We were very excited to easily include this tax picker in our custom project, however, several enhancement suggestions came out of UAT:

• Search terms using contains operation (now only supporting starsWith)
• Collapsable tree (huge termsets are nasty)

Unfortunately, currently we're limited by existing API - GetTerms. There is no contains functionality in it. We're waiting for upcoming update to Managed Metadata Service and APIs and maybe we'll be able to enhance the search.

You mean allow to collapse terms, right?

Yes I mean that the sub terms of a term should be hidden by default. When clicking on a term, the sub tree appears with the child terms.

About the search terms via contains operator: The entire tree is fetched initially, so it is very well possible to filter on the React state, no ?

Not exactly. The tree is populated in the moment when you're opening the tree itself.
When you're typing something inside the picker - we use GetTerms api.
