Notepad++ stuck while reopening multiple files during compare

Hello,
while I compare 2 files and then opening and then reopening same multiple files, notepad++ gets stuck.
Any way to avoid this? Sometimes I forgot to "stop comparing" before opening these and then I have to restart PC, because not
even task manager cannot close it.
