Animating a counter

Hi there,

I need a bit of help figuring something out. We have a counter that gets incremented and decremented by buttons.
I want the animation to take the number up (transform: translateY('20px') or down(transform: translateY('-20px') based on the evolution of the counter (increment/decrement).

i am using state for count and i track previous value with refs.

const [count, setCount] = useState(0)
function usePrevious(value: number) {
    const ref = useRef()
    useEffect(() => {
        ref.current = value
    })
    return ref.current
}

const prevCount = usePrevious(count)

i cannot figure out how to achieve this.
is it possible?
