Problem
To check my usage limits with a screen reader (NVDA on Windows), I have to leave my thread. I either press Ctrl+U to open the Usage page, switch to Limits, and read through it, or I run
/usage-limitsin the composer and read the panel it opens. Either way I lose my place in the thread, and all I wanted to know was a few numbers.Sighted users can glance at the limits. Screen reader users have no glanceable version.
Proposal
Add a command, for example
usage.announce, that speaks a short summary of the current usage limits through a live region. Focus does not move. Bind it to Ctrl+Shift+U by default (free today, and it pairs with Ctrl+U for the Usage page). People can rebind it in Settings → Keybindings, and it also shows up in the command palette. For every connected account, the announcement would say:
It uses the same "% left" wording as the Limits page, so the spoken and visual versions match.
Example: "Claude: session 58% left, resets in 2 hours 10 minutes. Weekly 37% left, resets Monday at 9 AM. Codex: session 90% left, resets in 4 hours. Weekly 75% left, resets Thursday at 6 PM."
If an account reports no limits, or the data isn't loaded yet, say so for that account ("Codex: no limits reported") so nothing is skipped silently.
