Currently the Windows apps aren't signed, and display a smart screen warning on install. Signing them with a valid certificated is no guarantee to bypass the warning but could help (and looks more professional).

You can become a Microsoft Partner developer for a one time payment of $ 20, so it's rather cheap compared to Apple.
