Watch-only ord wallet?

Anyone know how to generate a watch-only wallet via ord (not Bitcoin-cli). Not seeing it documented anywhere. Thanks.

At the moment we don't have that command. We have ord wallet dump which gives you a private key descriptor (not watch-only). We could add a flag ord wallet dump --watch-only that dumps the public key descriptors for the wallet. Should be an easy PR if you want to take a stab at it :)

The use-case I'm most interested in is searching for rare sats. For that, I would not want to load my private key into an internet-connected node for security reasons. Importing a descriptor into a watch-only wallet would be ideal, and it looks like some of the early versions did that. I've tried using earlier versions but these seem to have more sparse cli documentation (understandably) and compatibility issues with the current ord index. I hope we can add this functionality back in.

I don't think we will support adding any kind of xpub/descriptor to the wallet for watch-only, that's just too much to support. We only allow our specific kind of taproot descriptor. For sat hunting I would suggest spinning up your own (if privacy concerned) and then building a script that checks the outputs of your wallet through the json rpc endpoint /output/<YOUR_WALLET_OUTPUT> and then parsing out the sat ranges (which contain the rare and special sats)
