401 error since Jan 8

Since January 8, 2026, I've been getting an authentication error:

Error retrieving Australia NEM file from OpenElectric: (<class 'openelectricity.client.APIError'>, APIError('API Error 401: Unauthorized')

I don't think anything changed on my end. I use an env variable as suggested for my API key. I checked and the key should still be valid.

Hello, this is an issue with the API server, not the Python client. You can track this issue here:

opennem/opennem#480

I think this might be fixed now for most but not rooftop solar.

Thanks. It is working again, but, no, no rooftop. Frustrating that last one.
