Hi, we do not recommend either a file manager or an image viewer as a core part of openSUSEway.
The openSUSEway package does contain Suggests: for both vifm and imv, to give a general indication to users. Suggests is the weakest form of RPM dependency, which will not be installed even by zypper install --recommends.
As such, neither vifm nor imv are installed by default on an openSUSEway install. That's why we do not provide a configuration file for either one.
I personally use imv to a very limited extent, and I do not use vifm at all. Perhaps someone else uses it and can help you configure it to use imv.
I am not sure that we would like to add such configuration to openSUSEway by default, though. Other opinions welcome.
Distro: Opensuse tumbleweed
It seems even though imv is the recommended picture viewer by the pattern, vifm isn't set to use imv to open images.
As a result using the default file manager vifm and opening images (png etc) it displays binary data.
