So, if I understood correctly it's not possible to provide real-time data access to users since the data is pre-processed/snapshoted at build time.

Is that correct?

Data loaders are not mandatory.

It's always possible to query live (real-time) sources of data using the usual methods (fetch, d3.json, etc).
