Title page not rendering formatting and images

I have used this template for writing a tech memo, but the title page is not rendering properly. I am not getting any of the same formatting as the examples in this repo. I rendered the blank report from the initial use of the template and while some of the colors and styling worked, the title page was not there (either pdf, html, or docx). I also tried playing around with some template partials and other fixes with no luck. Additionally, when opening the 'template.docx', it gives the pop-up 'We're sorry. We can't open template.docx because we found a problem with its contents."

In the past for other projects, I have tried adding images to a title page with quarto and have had similar issues. Any help on this is appreciated! (It is also not an urgent matter.)
