Issue type

UX/Interaction bug (incorrect behaviour)

Description with steps to reproduce

  1. Go to Edit>Preferences>Shortcuts.
  2. Set an arbitrary action to be triggered by * by selecting it,, hitting "Define...", then hitting Shift+8, then Save, then OK.
  3. Congratulations! You have set up a shiny new shortcut that won't do anything no matter how hard you try.
  4. Weep, for all is lost. Or set your action to LITERALLY ANY OTHER KEY IDK

Thanks for reporting! This appears to be a duplicate of a few others, such as #14539 and a half dozen or so others.

Workaround for now is to export your shortcuts to an XML file and edit it by hand, then reload them.
