Just starting this discussion to get your thoughts on adding a way to amortize expenses to this app.
Eg: If we are making a large transaction this month/week, such as a laptop, it messes up the expenses of this month by considering the entire expense for this month. So if your average spend is ₹10,000, and you buy a laptop for ₹40,000, the expenses for this month become ₹50,000 and stand as an outlier.
In reality, you will either save up for such a big expense or finance it across multiple months. While there is still a manual way to account such a transaction by inputting multiple categories, it would be convenient if there was a UI for it. For example, it could allow us to slice this expense (same category, tags, payee, etc. Just different dates and the amount is equally split across each transaction) to the future or into the past. This way, if I have been saving up for the past 5 months, I can split by ₹50,000 expense into 5 transactions of ₹10,000 each. The UI could perhaps allow monthly, weekly or daily slicing. Similarly, if I have taken a loan for the next 5 months, I can slice it right now instead of manually inputting them every month.
The underlying transaction will be the same, it will just provide a way to automatically slice it into equal parts.
