I had issues installing the version linked from Archive.org, and found that this version works to install under the wine setup (that I have at least)

Were you using the command as is in the CLIENT.md documentation ?

There is a slight inconsistency there for downloading version 5 but provided the run command for AIM v3.

I was using wine <.exe name>
