find file at point

I'm switching from counsel and I'm looking for something similar to this:

(setq counsel-find-file-at-point t)

Is there an equivalent for consult?

If that setting is for counsel's version of find-file, it's not relevant to consult which does not have a find-file. Consult users just use the built-in find-file, and for that built-in command M-n should bring up the file at point. In other words,the effect of that setting (if I understand it correctly) is built-in to Emacs with no configuration needed.

And there is also the command ffap.

It is a convenience function. So when I use find file, the system knows to automatically use ffap when the cursor points to a file.

It sounds like I will have to get used to using ffap haha

Is there a way to detect if the cursor is at a file (directory, etc) and add it to the completion list of consult?

I will post an example later tonight of the functionality I'm missing.

Let me just repeat that Emacs, out of the box, will insert the file at point as the first element of the "future history". So if you have your cursor on top of a filename and run find-file (bound to C-x C-f by default) and press M-n, you get that filename inserted into the minibuffer.

Here is the use case.

I have a file open that looks like this:

This is a file 

In this file there is a path /home/me/file1.txt

When my cursor is over any portion of file1.txt and I run counsel-find-file it uses file1.txt as the first option for suggestion/completion. This is very convenient and fast. This assumes I have (setq counsel-find-file-at-point t).

Consult currently does not do that and I would like it to do that.

This is out of scope of Consult. Consult doesn't provide consult-find-file and similar functionality which is not sufficiently different from builtins, in this case find-file or ffap.
